A day of mostly flat walking with a number of tarmac footpaths and roads. After leaving St Nicholas Church along busy roads in Warwick we join a short stretch of the Grand Union Canal towpath before continuing to head north, along lanes and bridleways, eventually through fields to Kenilworth Castle. Uphill into old Kenilworth High Street, our late morning prayer stop is at another St Nicholas Church, followed by lunch in The Virgins & Castle pub. After lunch, paths around residential areas and parks and an HS2 development site lead us to the extensive campus of Warwick University and a prayer stop in its ecumenical Chaplaincy. We then make our way into the centre of Coventry via paths, roads and the Memorial Park, finally visiting the Old Cathedral before our overnight in Methodist Central Hall in the city centre. There is no main service today as we push on to get to Coventry, where the ruined cathedral will be opened specially for us.
A&B Pilgrimage History: The 2011 Newman pilgrimage stopped at the same pub and church in Kenilworth, on route from Warwick towards Birmingham, though the routes from Warwick to Kenilworth don't coincide.
